Winter Stress and Illness

We are many of us experiencing extremely cold weather and it is very important that we take extra care of our health. Remember, we need to keep ourselves well hydrated, even when the temperatures are cold.

Also, there are lots of "bugs" out there just waiting to attack us when we least want them...be sure to avoid those who are sick ( I realize this isn't easy) and wash your hands often , don't touch your eyes, nose or mouth while out in public or exposed to the sick. I recommend the gel disinfectants for when soap and water aren't easily obtainable. Cover you nose and mouth if you feel you are being exposed to someone who is ill...viruses travel through the air.

A stomach "bug" is an Addisonian's nightmare and exposure needs to be prevent if at all possible. If someone in your family is ill use a separate bathroom if possible and spray with disinfectant often...it is also a good idea to have an anti-nausea medicine on hand to hopefully prevent a crisis due to vomiting.

Remember spring is not to many weeks away!

Very good advice - these kind of strategies do help reduce exposure to not-so-great scenarios for those of us with Addison's/Adrenal Insufficiency. I am one of those who puts a tissue, etc., over my nose and mouth when around someone who is obviously ill. There's no need to explain, they'll understand that you don't want their germs! haha
